Time: 45 minutes
Portions: 4

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef or minced pork
  • 100 cl breadcrumbs
  • 150 cl milk
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1.5 krm black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbs chopped yellow or red onion, either fried or raw
  • Butter or margarin for the frying

Directions

1. Mix the breadcrumbs and milk in a bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes. You want the milk to be absorbed into the breadcrumbs. Depending on what milk you use, you might need a little more breadcrumbs.

2. Add salt and the ground beef or minced pork in the bowl and mix thoroughly. Add black pepper, egg and onion to the mix and stir so everything get mixed in well. (Keep in mind not to stir it for too long because that will cause the mix to become tough.)

3. Take out a cutting board and rinse it with water. Put the cutting board on the work area. Pick up small amounts of the meat mix and roll it into small balls with your hands and place them on the cutting board. If you rinse your hands in water from now and then will help to create nice and round meatballs.

4. Turn on the stove and put the pan on top of it with a piece of the butter in it. Put some of the meatballs in the frying pan, make sure that they can roll around when you shake the pan. Shake the pan now and then to make sure that the meatballs get a nice browning around them. When the meatballs get a nice browning, lower the heat and let them fry for another 3-5 minutes. The time will depend on how big the meatballs are. When they are done, put them on a plate and do the procedure all over again until there is no more mix left.[3]
